Curse of
Wisdom

“Curse of Wisdom” is a musical theatre inspired song with folk influences about legacy, and building a life you are proud of. It is inspired by musicals like Phantom of the Opera, Hadestown and Into the Woods. The song is my introduction to you, and my storytelling mission.

Julietta’s mission is to make sure listeners can experience musical theatre anywhere in the world, at any time. She believes the genre is built out of community, self-discovery, and no access barriers.

For her first release, Julietta has released her song along with a script and a short film to share her personal musical. “Curse of Wisdom” is a song about questioning where knowledge goes over the course of one's life, and sharing why she creates music.

In this model, every element of the theatre is at your fingertips. The song forms the basis of this work, while the script and short film provide the additional supporting details.

Whether you prefer reading or cinematography, there is no way to miss any detail about “Curse of Wisdom.”

“If you face all the triumphs
And you beat all the brawls
If you breathe all the fire
That’s the curse of it all”

Do you ever wonder where your wisdom goes at the end of your life? Have you ever questioned the way you are spending your days? Julietta Frances’ Curse of Wisdom addresses this important question.

Artist Story

Four years ago, I started songwriting. Today, I have a catalogue of over 300 songs.

I first connected to music when I started playing flute at age 10. This provided me with an understanding of orchestral textures and shaped my musical ear. I received classical training through the Royal Conservatory of Music and was a member of the Ontario Provincial Honour Band and Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra.

When I was 14 years old, I saw The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, which inspired me to teach myself how to sing. I sang three hours a day for four years training my voice. Through this process, I studied Original Broadway Cast Recordings extensively, and was captivated by how music brings lyrics to life.

I wrote my first song, “Flurries,” after I saw snow falling outside my window in a finance lecture (I received a Rotman Commerce degree from the University of Toronto). The song was about the amount of opportunities life presents us, and how few of them materialize.

My goal quickly turned into becoming a recording artist. I developed a distinct folk and musical theatre influenced vocal technique. I also learned how to play the guitar and piano, while also incorporating flute in my songs.

"Curse of Wisdon" is my first complete expression of my artistry, and solidifies the foundation of my mission to tell stories through my songwriting.
